Letters lag behind my keyboard strokes. Intrepid 32bit KDE 4.2

I am having the same issue as the OP. I've tried everything, but I hadn't 
thought of Kwin effects on the originating machine. I'm X11 forwarding a Kmail 
session as I've done for years, and it's been lagging fiercely. Checked 
everything network-wise, MTUs, load, etc...Never thought of Kwin effects on the 
original machine...
