How to add the €-sign to the key-board of a laptop with Kubuntu 8.10?.

Hello everybody

The only way I do get the € sign via my laptop so far is by means of
copy-pasting it...That is why, I am trying to add it to the key board
of a laptop. I have been trying the following: K>SYSTEM SETTINGS>
Regional and language>key board settings> tab 'advanced' (XKB Options)
> sub menu 'Adding the Euro sign to certain keys'. There, I tried it
to add to the 5 and to the e. But I did not yet mention to invoke the
€ via any key combination one could think about: not via ALT-GR 5 or
ALT-GR-e, also not via the combinations of shift or left-alt or
left-control with either key. Also assigning the € sign to only 5 or
only e or to both keys did not make any difference so far.

Does anybody have a clue what I can do to link some key combination to
the € sign?

Respectfully yours,
Bas.
