Both observations are right for me. When I used Kubuntu 7.10/ KDE 3
(Gutsy), I was a frequent and dedicated user of KPDF. Soon after
installing Kubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) I discovered Okular as a KPDF under
another name, but with the same functionalities I used to work with
under KPDF:
* PDF viewing
* easy and swift document navigation via one of the panels left;
* copy-pasting text and images into e.g. Writer via an activated
'selection' button;
* selecting parts of images by means of copy-pasting them or saving
them into separate .jpeg or .png files, via that same 'selection'
button.
In 'Okular', it is possible to invoke all those 4 functionalities in
the same or similar ways. Additionally, I already discovered one 'new'
function, which did not exist yet in KPDF: a possibility to make
annotations next to images or text passages.
In Windows, one would need expensive commercial software for the same
functionalities.............

Respectfully yours,

Bas.
