Hey Brian,
Try logging out of KDE, then at the KDM prompt choose 'Console Login'
(or similar).
Once you log in in CLI, delete the contents of your TMP directory
(/tmp/kde-$USER), kdecache-$USER, kdesocket-$USER directories.
They might contain some old references, especially if you've upgraded
from a previous version.
I use Midnight Commander to do that...
After deleting the files, exit the CLI and log back in to KDE (CTRL-ALT+F7)
