[Jaunty] Window Size Problem

Hello all,

I have recently upgraded from Kubuntu 8.04 to 9.04 using the online
method. Apart from the fact it took forever, itt went very well,
considering my past experience...

I had a few crashes, mainly while using kdesudo when switching to
administrative mode.

I went through the System Setting tool and changed the settings to my
liking. I don't know what exactly I did to cause this, but something
weird is happening: When I maximize a window, the hight gets maximized
up to two thirds of the screen. It happens to all windows of all
applications (KDE, Gnome, System, etc.). It's like the system thinks
the actual screen geometry is 16:9 while I have 4:3...

How do I fix this?!

Thanks!
