I think that update-notifier gets some info from /etc/lsb-release, not from
which repos are enabled. Then the upgrader disables third party repos, and
then after that adds/modifies the sources.list. Somewhere somehow Doc's update-
notifier is determined that there are no upgrades.
It is possible to just edit the sources.list, but that also bypasses the
upgrade tool, which helps resolve any known issues and conflicts. I so far
cannot duplicate his problem.
