xsane and network printer

I have just installed jaunty from CD, I can print to to my network 
printer AOK, but
I've spent most of the afternoon trying to get xsane to notice the 
scanner, been
looking around various .conf files and the cups queue, giving xsane the 
URI for
the all-in-one printer, but no go, can anybody give me a clue or three 
on where to put the
sabot in. I had no trouble in intrepid, it all worked 1st time. xsane 
finds my local usb scanner
without any trouble.
