I had non Ubuntu repositories but these were commented out by the gui upgrader
before it froze downloading files.

after running apt-get dist-upgrade and rebooting X wouldn't start because it
couldn't find the nividia driver. I commented out the appropriate section and
was able to open KDE.

I eventually ran sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg to get a new
xorg.conf which it seems happy with. I eventually installed and am using the
nividia graphics driver ver 180

I had several packages that didn't upgrade. These included.

bacula-sd-mysql
bacula-sd

Which I removed

I believe some version of libkipi was un-upgradeable
and three packages were shown as blocked in Adept. These were
gwenview, kdegraphics and one other which unfortunately I can't remember :-(

Eventually Adept allowed me the packages to upgrade the packages separately,
and the libkipi problem just went away.

Hope that helps
