Using names, not IP addresses, in home network

Assuming that you have root access to the machine that is handing out the
IP addresses:
edit /etc/dhcpd.conf to hand out names (and you might as well make the IP
addresses static at the same time).
It doesn't matter of the google articles you found are old. This stuff
hasn't changed in forever.
