You do not need to download a few times to make sure that you get a
good download. That is what the md5 checksums are for, use them.
You do not need to burn at various speeds, use the disk's Check Disk
Integrity feature, that's what it is for.

My Dell Inspiron will not install Ubuntu from the LiveCD, I need the
Alternative Install disk. Your Dell may be similar, try it.
