KDM resolution

On a fresh box KDM comes up on the attached CRT with 1920x1440 at 60Hz which is 
about the maximum the monitor can take. 
Said CRT is old tho and I don't know how it will take to running this fo 
rlonger than a few minutes.
Once I'm in KDE it's 1280x960 at 85 as supposed to.
How do I make KDM use that right from the start, too?
