what raid controller?

As was just mentioned in another thread Ubuntu supports software raid. 
There is no such thing as a cheap TRUE hardware raid controller, and 
there are rarely drivers for fake hardware raid.  If you download the 
Ubuntu alternate installer it will let you configure two (or more 
drives) as a raid system.  I don't have any benchmarks but I keep 
hearing that Linux software raid is plenty fast enough.
