multiple screen resolutions.

In my Slack 12.0 system xorg.conf has lines like this:
 Subsection "Display"
        Depth       24
        Modes  "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
    EndSubsection

This allows cycling through various screen resolutions. Can I just 
insert these lines in my Kubuntu xorg.conf?
