Thanks. I do have the gtk-qt engine installed. However, I need to
configure so GTK appearance settings besides those that the gtk-qt
engine plays with.

Thanks, I filed bug on that but it was invalidated twice:

Of course, I am the fool who filed the bug that KDE4 should not be the
default in Kubuntu 8.04 (remember that fiasco?) and that got
invalidated too:
