There are two programs that are modal in nature and they give people
fits that are not willing to take the time to learn them well. On is
VIM  AKA VI and the other is Blender3d. In both cases once you know it
you will never want to go back to the slow inefficient style of the
old ways, also both have great power once mastered.

In the case of VIM, unless you have do a lot of editing and writing
you are better off with Kate.
