There are two issues here, as I see it.
One, Wireless can't start until you give it access to your gpg secrets if it
uses WPA, and it can't access those until after login.
Two, as far as those apps can tell - and if I follow the network config
correctly - you ARE connected to a network. The annoying avahi stuff
brings up eth0 even when I don't have anything plugged in, so all of my
network apps whine too, because they think they're connected but DNS never
resolves.
Pulling anything related to avahi might help significantly.
