Fluxbox and NumLock

That doesn't seem to be the case with my Compaq evo n610c, nor my eee 1000.  
Both seem to require numlock on and the Fn key combo to use the letters as 
numkeys instead of alpha.

I always thought it was a holdover from the old XT keyboards that had the 
arrow and numpad on the same keys.  If numlock was on, you couldn't use the 
arrow keys.  Modern 101/103 keyboards still have this but also have a 
separate group of arrow keys.  I don't know why.  Is it just to accommodate 
people who are still used to the XT?
