I have a couple of gnome computers and occasionally monitor the Ubuntu and 
other Gnome lists.  I can assure, they dislike KDE as much as KDE aficionados 
dislike Gnome.  It isn't that they haven't seen KDE, they really like Gnome 
better.

I prefer KDE myself, but some things, like evolution/exchange just work better 
than any KDE alternative.  Frankly, looks can be pleasant, but works well is 
much more important to me.  I prefer konqueror because it *works* better than 
nautilus.  I prefer amarok because it *works* better than banshee.  But I 
prefer the ugly easyTAG because it *works* better than kid3.
