Adding new users problem in 8.10

Replying to self here:
I managed a simple [foolproof] way to do it:
'sudo adduser name_of_new_user'
(without the quotes of course)
You will then be prompted with a few questions -- just hit enter after giving the details (hit 
enter for the fields that are not important -- like 'room number', 'telephone' etc.)

kadduser seems to be broken in places.
