I agree.  I'm not happy with the state of 8.10, but I'll backup, upgrade,

No.  Only 1 more year.  LTS is 5 years for _server_ editions, but Kubuntu is
a desktop edition.  However, you're absolutely right that Kubuntu 6.10 will
be just as stable for the next 5 years as it has been for the last two.
