Maybe true. And very clever stuff, impressive.

I did come across one linux newbie who was trying Kubuntu 8.10 i 
isolation, and although he expressed it as a learning experience he 
did not yet fully understand I got the clear impression that he 
thought it competed well with vista. So Kubuntu - if it had fewer 
rough edges  - would probably win hands down. The apparent target 
market for that segment  then would be a perfectly valid one - ex 
Vista users. The trick will have to be that existing users and less 
demanding users still can find it a desirable must have and not go 
running away.

If only I had the choice - as I have with compiz in ubuntu and the 
wonderful spinning cube - to easily turn it off and do other things!
