When I first read your post, I had the same thought.  I don't feel 
qualified to give that advice, but I remember when I had lots of memory 
in my AMD 1800+, it seemed to work as fast as the then cutting edge 
2.4mhz computers my friends had.

Now I am going from 2.4ghz to 2.4 Quad core, so I missed the 
in-between.  I wish I had posted now, it might have been helpful, and I 
would very much like to be helpful to you, Nigel, as much as you have 
helped me.
