In my own personal experience if the updates are done in the middle of
the night 99.9999999......% of the people using the machines would
never know there was an update. Once in a great while there might be a
problem, but.........
The one exception I have is from 8.04 to 8.10. AND, that's only because
of the change to KDE 4. In my previous three updates [ 7.04, 7.10, 8.04
] I couldn't tell a difference afterwards. Just some of the version
numbers changed. Everything still worked the same. Everything still
looked the same. Everything was still in the same place. If there was a
8.10/3.5.10 I doubt anyone would know a difference from 8.04 > 8.10.
