Monday's 8.04 update

Has anyone found out what causes 2.6.24-17-generic, which was part of Monday's 
update, to kill the sound on the Dell 1525 that worked just fine running 
2.6.24-16-generic?   Actually, escaping and bringing up the GRUB menu allows 
me to use the 2.6.24-16 kernel and  then sound works again.  Haven't found 
where to modify the GRUB menu yet so I can make 2.6.24-16 the default again.
