Restart of router

I use kubuntu Gutsy and I have broadband and a Dlink router.

Normally I leave the router on all the time. Occasionally I need to
reset it by turning it off and on again. If I do this with the
computer running I can't access the internet. I look in settings and
it all appears to be working. Eth0 is marked as enabled. I have to
switch the computer off and then reboot. Now everything is OK.

The reason I am puzzled is that when I was running Edgy I did not
have this problem. I could turn the router off and on again with the
computer  running and I would then find that everything was
working OK.

Can anyone suggest where I should look please? I can't understand why
something that worked in Edgy does not work in Gutsy.
