OT: Kmail, POP3, list, thread and Gmail

I must be missing something again...

KMail can put either the original or a copy of your sent mail in any folder 
you wish - with the aid of filters.  You could do as I used to do and insert 
it into the list folder, when it will automatically be in the right place in 
the thread.

The subject of the thread suggests that I am right in thinking that you want 
to use KMail.  So what am I missing??
