Sound problem on kubuntu 8.4b

Well, i decided to go and upgrade for kubuntu 8.4b from 7.10.
Everything else seems normal, except that i get no sound.
Kmixer ain't able to find a mixer, and alsa gives function snd_ctl_open
failed.
Also, there is no /dev/mixer or /dev/snd directories.
Some sound and soundcard info:

I really don't have a clue on how to fix this, if someone can give me a
light a would appreciate it.
