e-sata question

Hi.  I don't know if this means anything, but I did a quick search on the 
Ubuntu forums and found this:

It's basically someone asking some advice on what e-sata drive to buy, 
however, the response contains this line:

This may not mean what it looks like - I'd kind of be surprised if something 
like a hard drive required a specific operating system - but then again, it 
may.

Also, e-sata support is based on the card or chipset.  To see if yours is
