Hi Bas, Many thanks for your reply. Sadly it does not help as I don't have problems with USB, it's this fancy new (to me) e-sata connection that is mute under Kubuntu. However, you have given me the idea to turn on the drive and then restart the computer - perhaps it will see it then. The problem with this is I never switch Kubuntu off :) Best, /d
