I would first try to reinstall kubuntu-desktop. Just

aptitude install kubuntu-desktop

Should do. That is just to be sure you have everything you should have
installed.

You should try to read the boot logs, and the Xorg logs.

This should show the boot logs:
dmesg | less

The Xorg logs are at
/var/log/Xorg.0.log

So just use

less /var/log/Xorg.0.log

That should at least allow you to find the actual message of what is
going wrong.

That is just a message saying that you are not resuming from a
"Hibernate" option. Nothing wrong with it.
