KMail installation problems

Kmail is in fact a separate entity. As someone said, Kontact is more of 
a "wrapper" for Kmail, Korganizer, etc. If Kmail wouldn't start on  it's 
own, I'm not surprised that it wouldn't start in Kontact. Sorry I can't 
really be of more help.
