I picked up a Toshiba Satellite that also has the switch on the side, 
but no way could I get wireless to work. Poking around under the 
detachable covers on the bottom, it turns out that although it's got 
sockets for both bluetooth and wifi adaptors, neither of these is 
fitted. So that would be worth checking, too.

But it does work with a BlueNext USB adaptor and ndiswrapper, using Gutsy.
