See http://linux.dell.com.  Dell currently supports RHEL and Suse Enterprise 
(on servers), as well as *ubuntu on desktops.  They have their own Ubuntu 
repos for proprietary drivers, and a customized install iso.  They are 
currently only at Gutsy, but should have a Hardy version soon.

That may be the case with the consumer line, but in the corporate line, we 
have the option of having a tech come out or doing it ourselves.  The only 
thing they have insisted on their techs doing is motherboard replacements.
