grub hangs on upgrade to 2.6.22.14?

I'm very suspicious about the line "You already have a NoLOADER
configuration in /etc/grub.conf". What does you /etc/grub.conf look
like? How about /boot/grub/menu.lst?
It's very unusual to run grub. That should have been done at OS
installation time. Are you positive that grub runs at boot?
