I know about aptitude, but my friend did not like it, he has only known windows 
his whole life.  He found aptitude too different to use.

I did not see vlc after I clicked on the multimedia tab.  I could have missed 
it.  I think I will have to install 8.10 in vbox and play a little.  Thanks for
