Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Xubuntu won't work on my Dell

Please press Alt+CNTRL+F1 instead! You might not get a shell if you
press ALT-CNTRL-BACKSPACE.
Then login.
Before you copy any files you should stop the X-Server with
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm stop

Then restart your X-Server with ;-)
sudo /etc/init.d/kdm start
( in the good old days way back before KDM oder GDM you could start the
X-Server with "startx" :-). )
