new 8.04 setup and network problems

Hi,

After surviving the locale bug (looks like a kernel 2.6.22-15 problem), with 
an unchanged network setup, some network functions fail.

I am able to mount nfs volumes and resolve names (in my local dns caching 
server). But nis won't find the server and http fails. Checked cofiguration 
files and nothing seems to have changed. Did not check other protocols.

Any clues?
