Sorry for misleading you, it was unintended and I still don't understand why 
it happend.

Glad you "solved" it, so you edited something in Grub (?).
The bootloader was the only thing that was different when you booted from a 
CD, so it was reasonable to try this. I just wouldn't have suspected a 
failing boot to go this far before dying.
