Should they or do they?  They probably should, they most likely don't.  I find 
that a lot of windows developers use internet explorer calls to access the 
internet.  So if you don't have IE installed, they don't know how else to do 
it.  Sometimes installing IE in wine solves the problem, sometime it doesn't.

Worth a try if you need the winapp and need it to access the internet.
