Myth TV and Python 2.2

Hey need some help here.

Does anybody know how to install, or know how to check
to see if python 2.2 is installed with my MythTV backend?
Because when I go to change channels the channel changer
doesn't change it within MythTV, but it works outside
MythTV.

Any help would be appreciated.
