No way to shutdown the computer via Kmenu?!?

I just fired up the machine now (after a good nights rest) and now I
have the KDM screen, and the logout/shutdown/etc buttons. That's
unusual as I had performed at least two shutdowns before going to
sleep and these features were not enabled.

So now the problem is resolved. Thank you to everyone for sharing
advice and input.
