That's because there's only two kinds of people: those that make backup, and 
those who don't know that even exist. ;-)

Seriously, if you just have communication in mind, 'backup' is the most common 
term, by far. At least within experts (others just don't bother to do it, let 
alone translate the term).

If you are translating some kind of documentation, or soft that requires 100% 
portuguese terms, I would loosely use something like "cópia de resgate", 
or ''de segurança". But I never heard anybody say this. And if I did, I 
wouldn't get it in the first time.


But, you know, there is a ' ubuntu-pt' list ;-)
