partition/format tool?

In Mandriva, there is a nice Mandriva-written graphical utility for
partitioning and formatting hard drives (diskdrake). I need to build a
FAT32 hard drive for my father's Windows system, and wonder if there's
a similar reasonable idiot-proof utility in Kubuntu? A quick look with
synaptic came up with some gnome-based tools which I suppose will
work, but I thought I'd ask here for advice before taking the plunge
since this is such a dangerous operation.
