I remember, years ago I had a problem with some index files in the mail
directory. Those files have names
.<foldername>.index
.<foldername>.index.ids
.<foldername>.index.sorted
As these are hidden files, you need
ls -A
to see them. You can remove the files -- then Kmail will rebuild the index
files on next startup (which may take some time if you have a lot of
mail).
