I had a similar situation with my Epson Stylus CX3700 - you have to install 
foomatic, guntenprint etc but I couldn't  find the 'CUPS+Guntenprint v5.0.0' 
driver - just the 'Foomatic + gutenprint-ijs-simplified.5.0' and the 'Foomatic + 
gutenprint-ijs.5.0'
Anyway the 'new' drivers work well.
