kubuntu install on USB external HDD

Thanks for replying ... its looking a bit complex at the moment :( but
I have an idea or two.

What you have said makes sense but unfortunately there is no hope of
adding a boot partition to my company lappy.

I think I might be able to get round the grub issue by putting grub on
the USB HDD and the laptop BIOS booting from external HDD (including
GRUB), so GRUB and the root partition are on the same drive, maybe
getting round the USB issue ?

Anyhow I am having a play right now ... will let you know what happens.

I would not really loose my job ... if all else fails dban is my
friend ... opps :)
