Strange issue upgrading from Edgy to Feisty -- or is it an issue?

Excuse me, but isn't synaptic just another apt front end? In which case I 
guess it should resolve just about the same conflicts and dependencies as 
adept? 

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I always had the impression that the more 
advanced package manager that added functionality would be aptitude, not 
synaptic. 

Having said that, I cannot understand why there seems to be a constant craving 
for synaptic on this list. For me, adept has always done the job. :-)
