Knetworkmanager and NFS mounts conflict (feisty)

I am having problems with the feisty beta - having NFS mounts declared
in /etc/fstab causes knetworkmanager to hang without error messages. I
have the stanza:

tux:/data /data nfs nouser,bg,intr,rw,exec,suid 0 0

but when I log into KDE, the shares are not available (which IS
expected, as network won't come up until knetworkmanager brings up the
wifi - hence the backgrounding of the mount), but the desktop
wallpaper doesn't load (!), and the knetworkmanager systray icon will
not load. Manually killing knetworkmanager and loading it manually
from a konsole generates the same, with no errors (other than the
standard wacom-related X errors you always get). Removing the stanza
and rebooting allows knetworkmanager to connect perfectly. The
questions are:

1) have I made a mistake in my fstab entry?
2) if not, is networkmanager compatible with NFS?

(for info the problem is the same whether or not the NFS *server* runs
the Dapper kernel or the Edgy kernel)

Any help much appreciated.

Ian
