VNC on Kubuntu problem

I have converted to Linux.  However, my problem is with my girlfriend
who is afraid to try Kubuntu on her computer.  She has heard horror
stories about Linux eating Windows in a dual boot situation.  I set
up a computer running Kubuntu Dapper and installed tightVNC on both
her Windows computer and my Kubuntu box.  It works fine when I log
into Kubuntu.  She can work with no problem.  She can not, however,
log into her own account as the login screen doesn't show. 
Apparently TightVNC isn't activated until after logging in.

My problem though is, how do I set up my Kubuntu machine so she can
log in over the network?
