There aren't?  As far as I can see, 99.999% of computers people are trying to 
use with Linux have exactly such a card, and the 0.0001% of people who have 
something better are the rare, rare exception.

The new dmix plug thing is supposed to fix that, but I have yet to see that 
actually function in real life.
